Eric Crouch Wows Crowd In Wichita
The Kansas Cornhusker Club co-sponsored a banquet with Clear Channel Radio, On Friday April 12, 2002 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, where 2001 Heisman Trophy Winner Eric Crouch was the featured speaker. Crouch was greeted by a standing ovation from six hundred screaming husker fans as he entered the ballroom to the sounds of the tunnel walk. The evening featured a spectacular highlight video of Eric's career, a nice dinner, a speech by Eric, and an autograph signing that kept Eric's hand busy until 11:30 PM. Eric happily signed until everyone who wanted an autograph got one, taking the time to make eye contact with each and every one. Eric kept the mood light in his speech by mixing in several jokes as he talked about his experiences at Nebraska, at the NFL Combine, and on the awards circuit, where Eric picked up the Davey O'brien Award, The Walter Camp Award, and the 2001 Heisman Trophy. He also spoke of the upcoming NFL draft. He said that the Kansas City Chiefs, the St Louis Rams, and the Green Bay Packers were the teams that had shown the most interest in him to this point. But he also mentioned that he could be receiving more calls this week, and could always be surprised on draft day by being selected by a team that hadn't shown as much interest. Eric also made a 2nd appearance in Wichita, at the Ultimate Toy Show on Saturday April 13. It was a great experience having Eric in Wichita. I would like to thank him for coming and wish him well in his future endeavors.
